Neighborhood Credit Union Opens at Sherman Crossroads

Neighborhood Credit Union, the first credit union in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, opened a branch at Sherman Crossroads on Thursday. CEO Chet Kimmel, pictured at right, says the credit union chose Sherman based upon burgeoning population and rapidly growing economy.

As NCU noted in a press release, Sherman is experiencing significant growth with major investments from companies such as Texas Instruments, whose $30 billion, 4.7 million-square-foot silicon chip factory is estimated to create 3,000 new jobs and will be the largest electronics production facility in Texas.

Neighborhood Credit Union first opened its doors to members in April 1930 as the Dallas Postal Employees Credit Union. A member-owned financial cooperative offering banking and wealth management services throughout Texas, the company’s mission is to build relationships in neighborhoods that foster wealth building, security and financial well-being.
